Guandi Wu is a printmaker based in Shanghai, working primarily in etching and monotype.
Guandi is enchanted by the textural possibilities of printmaking. She develops innovative techniques for each series, crafting an expressive textural vocabulary in order to communicate subtle moods. Her works aim to merge physical and psychological spaces, drawing on archetypal imagery to evoke introspection and existential solitude.
Guandi began to self-study art after earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Peking University. She explored various mediums before dedicating herself to printmaking. Since 2021, she has been teaching English-language workshops on various printmaking techniques at the Wait and Roll Printmaking Studio and at international schools in Shanghai.
